April 2009

EARLY APRIL:

Flats of onions, leeks & scallions are getting bigger!

This small greenhouse is really filling up.

Close up of broccoli.

Close up of eggplants, which will soon need transplanting.

Peppers, too, will need to be moved up into larger pots.

A little snow on the Bull Mountains, but the days are warming up nicely.

I  planted our peas & fava beans in the field.

I took a walk and found the bitterroots are emerging after a long winter break...a sure sign of spring.

Tom has been busy working on the new greenhouse.
Above is one of the 2 new woodstove heaters.

LATE APRIL:

Tom's getting the other end wall finished...soon we'll be able to put the plastic on!

Close up of cole crops

Eggplants, moved up into larger pots.

Most all of our seedlings have been moved to larger pots now.

We've added additional space (two shelves above the tables) to this "starter" greenhouse while we finish the larger one.

Close up of the upper shelf with tomato seedlings...since the heat rises, these needed no coaxing with heat mats!

Fennel bulb & tomatoes.
